The Kindle eBook reader was extremely popular when it was first released by Amazon years ago, but everyone knew that it was only a matter of time before competing brands started to hit the market. What is quite surprising is that today the Kindle remains one of the most preferred options even with competitors coming out from Barnes and Noble and other sources.

There are a few reasons the Kindle reader continues to steal the spotlight in this market.

Improvements and Updates

Amazon did not just create the Kindle reader and leave it be. They have taken the recommendations, complaints, and opinions of their customers very seriously and are in the process of creating better Kindle versions that will continually top the competing brands hitting the market.

For instance, they have now released the Kindle DX with many improved features. It is a bit larger in size than the original Kindle eBook reader, but it also stores up to 2,000 more book titles at a time, features a larger viewing screen, and has a very unique rotating screen that can be viewed from different angles just by adjusting the position in your hand.

Future models are guaranteed to be produced, which promises to keep Kindle at the top of the market.

Exhaustive Wireless Connection

The biggest pitfall with the competing eBook readers from Barnes and Noble is that the wireless Internet connection only works in limited areas of the U.S. The Kindle works in all areas of the U.S., and the original version will even work in a long list of foreign countries. This means everyone can use the Kindle but some people may have trouble establishing the necessary connection to use many competing brands.

Amazing Storage Capabilities

The Kindle reader will hold about 1,500 books at a time, while the Kindle DX reader has expanded storage to hold up to 3,500 books at a time. These devices are capable of displaying and storing every type of literary media you could want to read:

* Books (classics to bestsellers)

* PDF Files and EBooks

* Magazines

* Newspapers

* Blogs

You can also store pictures on your Kindle and share them with others on the large viewing screens. Access is also given to limited Internet sites, including Wikipedia and the top search engines.

The Bottom Line

The Kindle eBook readers will continue to lead the market simply because they listen to the consumer and deliver the features and improvements that are demanded. While other competitors may enter the market and try to steal away some of the profits of this booming industry, Amazon probably doesn’t have much to worry about. Their products remain in hot demand and that attention is guaranteed to continue as they come out with newer and better models of the Kindle.

Anyone who enjoys reading or just needs some limited access to the Internet on the go will enjoy the Kindle eBook reader. Users are able to purchase all the books and magazines they want to read at a reduced rate and they never have to worry about carrying around heavy books when they are away from home!
